Having just completed a 16 hour course in a massage technique called Ayurvedic Head Massage; I couldn’t wait to get back and tell my clients about it! I’m very excited about this treatment and I wanted to share with you some thoughts about the massage itself.

Ayurvedic Head Massage (also known as Indian Head Massage, East Indian Head Massage or Champissage) is a hands-on massage modality utilizing energetic flow to clear negativity while releasing tension and toxins form the body.

Ayurvedic Head Massage includes massage, shiatsu and acupressure techniques on the upper back, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, scalp and face. Specific points are worked to relax tense areas, to help rebalance the energy of the body and to clear away negativity. Ayurvedic therapy is a holistic healing system from India dating back over 6000 years, integrating body, mind and spirit.

Ayurvedic Head Massage has evolved from thousands of years of techniques, handed down from generation to generation. It is a highly therapeutic collection of modalities (massage techniques), designed to create either a sense of relaxation, or rejuvenation. This treatment has been gaining popularity for helping to lessen stress in the workplace.

Ayurvedic Head Massage works both on the connective tissues, such as muscles and fascia, as well as the subtle energy centers of the body. Although you only work the upper part of the body, this modality can have dramatic effects on numerous organs and systems. Ayurvedic Head Massage can be done both in a chair while sitting up right or can be integrated into a tabletop massage. It also utilizes the use of essential oils that are targeted to the specific needs of the client.
